About the Show

Ray Nagin was elected to the office of Mayor in the Big Easy, New Orleans, this past summer. As the 51st mayor of New Orleans, he is the first in nearly seven decades to serve without holding a previous elected office. In fact, Mayor Nagin has no ties to any political organization. Before becoming mayor, he was Vice-President and General Manager of Southeast Louisiana cable system Cox Communications.

A native of New Orleans, Mayor Nagin earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting at Tuskegee University and a Masters of Business Administration at Tulane University.

Dr. Frederick Steiner is the dean of the School of Architecture at The University of Texas in Austin. His research efforts have affected the urban development and preservation policies of the National Park Service, the state of Arizona, the city of Phoenix and numerous endangered landscapes.

Fritz Steiner received his Ph.D., a master's degree in city and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a master of community planning from the University of Cincinnati. His latest book isÊHuman Ecology: Following NatureÕs Lead.
