About the Show

Michael Lind is the Whitehead Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation and Director of its American Strategy Project. With Ted Halstead, he is the author of The Radical Center: The Future of American Politics (Doubleday, 2001). He is also the author of Made in Texas: George W. Bush and the Southern Takeover of American Politics (New America Books/Basic, 2003). Michael has been an editor or staff writer for The New Yorker, Harpers Magazine, and The New Republic. From 1991-94 he was executive editor of The National Interest. He has written for The Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, the LA Times, The Financial Times, and other leading publications.

Michael's first three books of political journalism and history, The Next American Nation (1995), Up From Conservatism (1996), and Vietnam (1999) were all selected as New York Times Notable Books, and he has also published several volumes of fiction and poetry. His next book is a study of Abraham Lincoln, What Lincoln Believed: The Values and Convictions of America's Greatest President, which will be published by Doubleday in 2004.

Martha Barletta is president of The TrendSight Group, a consulting and training firm that helps major corporations build their sales, share and profits by improving their communications with women. Her clients include Volvo, Allstate, Investors Group, New York Life, Wachovia Bank, Neuberger Berman Private Asset Management, Prairie Gardens, and others.

Marti earned her MBA from Wharton and she has worked with top flight agencies like McCann-Erickson, TLK, FCB and Frankel. She has been featured in Ad Age, BrandWeek, the San Francisco Examiner, the Toronto Star and many other publications worldwide.

Marti is the author of the book "Marketing to Women: How to Understand, Reach and Increase Your Share of the World's Largest Market Segment."
