About the Show

Kristy Edmunds is one of America's most inventive arts entrepreneurs. Eight years ago she founded the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art and now serves as its executive and artistic director. She is also a filmmaker, visual and performance artist who has mounted many ambitious multi-media projects, choreographed movement and dance, and exhibited site-specific installations and visual exhibitions throughout the Northwest. Kristy received the ACLU of Oregon's 1998 Freedom of Expression Award. She is on the board of the Oregon Coalition for Free Expression and Artists for a Hate-Free America and she is also a Domestic Consultant for The Ford Foundation's Media, Arts and Culture Unit.

Prior to founding PICA, Kristy served as Curator of the Portland Art Museum's Art On the Edge Program.
