Is it possible to predict the future?
Maybe not, but a growing number of people are trying. Call them trendspotters, futurists, trendtrackers; they all are trying to give themselves and their clients a head start on what's next.
This week, we're talking with two trend experts on the show. Reinier Evers is founder and director ofÊ. With the help of his 3,000+ trendspotters around the world, he produces newsletters and seminars on emerging consumer trends and new business ideas.
Trendwatching.com scans the world for hot, emerging consumer trends and related new business ideas and reports its findings in monthly newsletters and seminars.
While at interactive agency AGENCY.COM in NY and London, Reinier worked with global clients including British Airways, Texaco and Compaq on trend spotting, business research, vision development and competitive analysis.
Reinier was also a co-founder of Urbanbite, an online food delivery portal in the UK and the Netherlands, now part of Lastminute.com, one of Europe's largest travel and entertainment firms.
Reinier is a featured speaker at the 9th Annual Future Trends Conference, Nov. 7-9 in Miami. Trendwatching.com is also staging a series of "Trend Immersion" workshops in Europe and North America this fall.
Robyn Waters once translated trends into products for Target. Now, as founder and president ofÊRW Trend LLC, in Minneapolis, she advises clients on how to use information on trends profitably.
As former Vice President of Trend, Design and Product Development for Target, Robyn Waters has more than 25 years experience tracking and translating trends into sales and profits in corporate retail America.
We'll talk about trends and how to spot them this week on "Smart City." Ê
