John has spent the last six years making life in cities better through web technologies. He'll talk to us about his latest project, DIYCity, a site dedicated to finding ways that technology can make cities work efficiently, effectively and sustainably.

Plus, a look back on the past. The 70s and 80s were turbulent times for New York City, but an iconic image, the "I Heart NY" symbol, went from a slogan to a way of life . We'll speak with author and sociologist Miriam Greenberg about her book "Branding New York." on this week's show.
