KIPP Academy began in Houston as a modest test of a rather straightforward idea -- There are no shortcuts to education success.Ê GuessÊwhat?Ê It works.Ê With students spending 67 percent more time in the classroom and test scores out the roof, Memphis City Schools Superintendent Johnnie Watson is nowÊexploring the possibility of bringing the KIPP Academy model to Memphis.
