Imagine canoeing, biking and hiking through a 50-mile stretch of wildlife sanctuaries, right in the heart of the city.Ê That's what you'll be able to do if the Wolf River Conservancy has its way.Ê The Conservancy is a nonprofit, volunteer organization with plans to turn the Wolf into a major recreation and environmental resource for this area.
Chuck Flink has seen the trend toward greenways develop nationwide.Ê He's helped cities throughout North America develop trails along waterfronts, abandoned railroad corridors and other scenic areas.Ê He says for every $1 invested in greenways, a city realizes a $3-$5 return.
Find out why greenways are suddenly so hot Sunday 9 a.m. CST on "Smart City."Ê It's on the WKNO-FM stations (91.1 in Memphis).
