Mary Jo Waits is the associate director of the Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University in Tempe. There, she focuses on defining public policy issues in economic development, the New Economy, and metropolitan growth and development. Her latest work is titled, "The Downtowns of the Future," and it's our topic this week on "Smart City."
John Dudas moved to Memphis from Miami in 1974 to become the City's first Director of Policy Planning and Analysis. He was the first executive director of the Center City Commission and joined Jack Belz in 1988 to help him realize his vision for Peabody Place. This weekend, that vision gets closer to reality with the opening of Muvico, a 22-screen movie theatre in the heart of downtown.
We'll find out what's next for downtown this week on "Smart City." Listen Sunday, 9 a.m., on 90.1, 90.7 and 91.1 or Tuesday, 9 a.m. on 90.7 and 88.9.
