About the Show

Charles Landry founded Comedia in 1978 after education in Germany, Italy and the UK, and a background in forecasting and economics not exactly the background you would expect of a guy now dedicated to creative thinking about cities.Ê His work for national governments, international agencies and local authorities in the UK and beyond is focused on strategic policy development, the economics of innovation, cultural industries and city futures.Ê

Comedias most recent projects include repositioning library services for a learning society, renewing the vitality of urban green space and the public realm, and exploring the contribution the creative economy and arts activity make to urban revitalization.

Charles Landry calls his book, The Creative City, a toolkit for urban innovators, and he challenges readers to quit trying to solve urban problems with what he calls the old intellectual apparatus and mindset.

Charles Landry is our guest this week on "Smart City."Ê Listen Sunday, September 9, at 9 a.m. (Central) on 91.1.Ê The interview airs again Tuesday, September 11, 9 a.m. on 88.9.Ê You can also hear "Smart City" onlineÊon .
